(A) The following types of fires may be allowed:
(1) CEREMONIAL FIRES AND BONFIRES. A bonfire in connection with a religious ceremony, school pep rallies, scouting activities, and similar or other purposes previously approved by the Board of Public Works.
(2) Recreational or cooking fires.
(B) All exemptions shall be subject to the following:
(1) A garden hose connected to a water supply, buckets (filled with water or sand), a shovel, a fire extinguisher or other approved fire extinguishing equipment shall be readily available at the burn site.
(2) Only wood products shall be burned; no leaves, paper, trash, rubbish or yard waste.
(3) A responsible party shall attend a fire at all times until it completely extinguished.
(4) If open burning creates a smoke nuisance or a hazardous condition exists, the open burning shall be extinguished immediately.
(5) Burning shall be a minimum 25 feet from a combustible material or structure.
(6) No burning shall be conducted during unfavorable meteorological conditions, such as temperature inversions, high winds, air stagnation, etc.
(7) Ceremonial fires and bonfires shall have a total fuel area no greater than ten feet in diameter, and a fuel load not to exceed six feet in height.
(8) Fires for recreational or cooking shall have a total fuel area no greater than three feet in diameter, and a fuel load not to exceed two feet in height.
(C) Excluded from the conditions set forth in division (B) above is burning in a barbecue pit or grill where the base fuel for heat is charcoal products.
