(A) Interdepartmental transfers. Any employee in the classified service who has served the required probationary term may be transferred with the approval of the Commission from a position in one department to a position of the same class in another department, upon consent of the City Manager and with the consent of the employee to be transferred. Such transfer shall not require an additional probationary period.
(B) Assignment to other work. Any employee in the classified service may be assigned to other work than that described in the specifications of his or her classification but of the same general level of responsibility, for a period not exceeding 30 days, without notice to the Commission, but with the consent of the City Manager. Such assignment shall involve no change in compensation. No person shall be employed for more than 30 days on other duties than those implied by his or her class title unless he or she has qualified through competitive examination as proscribed herein.
