(A) (1) There shall be established a Selection Committee to preside over the selection process of applicants for vacant positions on any board or commission.
(2) The Selection Committee shall consist of the City Council liaison person to the board or commission, the chairperson of the board or commission or the vice-chairperson, if the chairperson is an applicant, and the department director that provides administrative support to the board or commission.
(B) The City Council shall adopt by resolution procedures governing the selection process to be followed by the Selection Committee.
(C) (1) The Mayor shall give the Selection Committee's recommendation appropriate weight in the Mayor's choice for appointment.
(2) Nothing shall preclude the Mayor, however, from appointing a candidate other than that recommended by the Selection Committee.
