If, in the event, the town police officer issued a 48-hour notice as provided in § 98.03 and the junk motor vehicle is not removed within such time, the town police officer may remove or cause the motor vehicle to be removed and to be disposed of in the same manner as now provided by the laws of the state for the removal and disposal of abandoned vehicles. Such removal shall be at the expense of the owner of the real estate, owner of the junk motor vehicle and/or the occupant of the real estate, which expense, if unpaid, shall constitute a lien on the real estate.
