8-2-8: HANDICAPPED PARKING ONLY:
It shall be prohibited to park any motor vehicle which is not bearing registration plates issued to a physically handicapped person or disabled veteran or such devices as local authorities deem proper as evidence that the vehicle is operated by or for a handicapped person or disabled veteran in any parking space specifically reserved, by posting of an official sign, for motor vehicles bearing such registration plates.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for any person to park any vehicle within any parking area designated within the city for handicapped parking unless said person is handicapped and is driving a vehicle with a city handicapped sticker.
   (B)   The parking spaces on Washington Street on the north side thereof next to Locust Street on the east are hereby designated as handicapped parking spaces. The chief of police of the city is hereby directed to post two (2) such spaces on Washington Street adjacent to Locust Street as handicapped parking spaces only. The city does hereby also designate one (1) handicapped parking spot at 107 North Locust Street.
   (C)   The city council is hereby authorized from time to time by written resolution to designate additional handicapped parking spaces for posting by the chief of police for usage within the city by handicapped persons only. (Ord. 573, 3-21-2005; amd. Res. 221, 5-6-2024)
