(a) There is hereby established an Auxiliary Police Unit within the Police Division of the Municipality in accordance with Ohio R.C. 737.161, and that a maximum of thirty members of the Auxiliary Police be maintained under the jurisdiction of the Minerva Police Department.
(b) The Mayor is the executive head of the Auxiliary Police Unit, and the Mayor shall make all appointments, and removals of Auxiliary Police Officers, subject to confirmation by Council.
(c) The Chief of Police shall have exclusive control of the stationing and transfer of all Auxiliary Police Officers under such general rules and regulations as the Mayor prescribes.

(d) Every Auxiliary Police Unit member shall be of reputable character; that all members must be maintained on a roster by the Chief of Police; that those members who have successfully completed all training and certifications required by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Council are vested with the powers and authority commensurate with those of the position of Auxiliary Police Officer under the policies and procedures of the Minerva Police Department as established by the Chief of Police; that each Auxiliary Police member must continue service to the extent that they comply with the standards established by the Chief of Police in order to remain a member in good standing.
