§ 52.02 BACKFLOW DEVICES REQUIRED FOR CROSS-CONNECTIONS.
   (A)   Cross-connection endangering city water supply prohibited. The installation or maintenance of any cross-connection which would endanger the water supply of the city is hereby prohibited. Any such cross-connection now existing or hereafter installed is hereby declared unlawful and shall be abated immediately.
   (B)   Installation, maintenance of cross-connections governed by KAR and city manual. The installation, maintenance, control, inspection and elimination of cross-connections shall be in accordance with the Kentucky Public and Semipublic Water Supplies Regulations (401 KAR 6:015), Section 2, Item 5. The policies, procedures and criteria for determining appropriate levels of protection shall be in accordance with the city cross-connection manual, a copy of which shall be kept with the City Clerk/Treasurer.
   (C)   Approved backflow devices required. Water service to any premises shall be contingent upon the customer providing cross-connection control in a manner approved by the city. Backflow devices required to be installed shall be a model approved by the city.
   (D)   City employees authorized to inspect. Authorized employees of the city with proper identification shall have access at reasonable hours and upon reasonable notice to all parts of a premises or within buildings to which water is supplied. Water service may be refused or terminated to any premises for failure to allow necessary inspections or to abate an unlawful cross-connection.
