§ 1608.05 FIRE INVESTIGATORS.
   (a)   The Chief of the Division of Fire may designate one or more members of the Division of Fire and/or the Police Fire Investigation Unit, who have received the required training to become law enforcement officers and who have been duly sworn in as law enforcement officers, to serve the function of fire investigator. Fire investigators shall investigate the cause of all fires, issue subpoenas to compel the attendance of witnesses to testify in relation to any matter which is a proper subject of inquiry and investigation and issue subpoenas for the production of any book, paper or document concerning a matter under investigation. A fire investigator may administer an oath to any person appearing as a witness before him or her, may examine witnesses and may perform all other acts necessary to the effective discharge of his or her duties, as set forth in this division.
   (b)   A fire investigator may enter, for the purpose of examination, any building which, in his or her opinion, is in danger from fire.
