§ 1422.11 EXEMPTIONS.
   (a)   The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to any of the following:
      (1)   Work in connection with the erection, construction, maintenance or repair of lines for the transmission of electricity from the source of supply to the service, or on the premises used by electric light plants authorized to generate and sell electrical current;
      (2)   Electric street railway companies or the work of such companies on premises owned or controlled by them;
      (3)   The work of electric light plants in installing, maintaining and repairing on the premises of customers, service connections and meters and other apparatus remaining the property of such plants or companies after installation;
      (4)   Work in connection with the lighting of public streets, alleys or public parks and bridges; or
      (5)   The work of telephone and telegraph companies incorporated for the transmission of intelligence by electricity or the installing, maintaining or repairing of wires, apparatus, fixtures or other appliances used by such companies that are necessary for or incident to their business, whether or not such wires, conduits, apparatus, fixtures or other appliances are on their own premises.
   (b)   Electricians employed by theatrical companies may install temporary wiring and appliances required for the purpose of the engagement of any such company, subject to the supervision of a person licensed under this chapter.
   (c)   Electricians regularly employed as maintenance electricians by firms or corporations, other than the holders of a State license, may install such electrical wiring, conduits and appliances or make such repairs thereon as may be required without any certificate obtained under this chapter but only on the premises of such firms or corporations. If such electricians desire to install any electrical wires, conduits or appliances or make any repairs thereon not on the premises of the firms or corporations by which they are regularly employed, they shall first apply for and take the examination required by this chapter and become licensed in accordance with the terms of this chapter.
   (d)   This chapter shall not apply to departments, branches, service units or buildings of the Federal or State government.
   (e)   A registration under the provisions of this chapter is not required of the owner-occupant of a single-family dwelling who performs the work governed by this Title Six as to such dwelling, provided that such person obtains the permits required in Chapter 1424 and submits such work for the inspections required.
