The superintendent [of schools] shall be subject to removal at the discretion of the school committee by vote of a majority of all members of the school committee with or without a public hearing, as the school committee in its discretion shall determine. There shall be no right of appeal from the decision of the school committee. Except in cases of moral turpitude in which removal may take effect immediately, such removal shall not become effective until at least ninety days following the vote of the school committee, and the superintendent shall continue to receive his or her usual compensation until the date upon which removal does take effect.
