(a) The Sexton shall have charge of the management, control and regulation of the Cemetery, subject to the rules, regulations and policies promulgated by the Street Committee, the ordinances of the Village and applicable provisions of the Revised Code. The Sexton shall have the duty and the authority to perform the following:
(1) Subject to the approval of Council, to enter any contract necessary for the operation and maintenance of the Cemetery;
(2) To sell burial lots in accordance with a fee schedule established by the Streets Committee;
(3) To approve any and all monuments to be used to mark a burial lot; and
(4) To maintain all records of burial lot ownership, keeping a current copy of the records in his/her office and maintaining the updated original copy of such records in the Village’s vault.
(b) On the third Monday of January each year, or as soon thereafter as is practical, the Sexton shall report in writing to the Streets Committee and to Council the number of Cemetery lots sold the previous year, to whom the lots were sold, and the amount received therefor, shall also provide a detailed statement of expenditures during the same period, showing the time and purpose of each payment and to whom made. Such report shall contain a statement as to any such other matters as the Streets Committee or Council may require.
