(a) The following days are hereby declared holidays for full-time employees of the Municipality, as distinguished from temporary or part-time employees:

Memorial Day | Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day |
Independence Day | Christmas |
Labor Day | Any other holiday approved by Council |
(b) For each holiday observed on a day an employee is normally scheduled to work, the employee shall be excused from work on such day, if feasible, and shall nevertheless be paid for eight hours work that day.
(c) In the event that New Year’s Day, Independence Day or Christmas Day should fall on Saturday, the Friday immediately preceding shall be observed as the holiday. In the event any such holiday should fall on Sunday, the Monday immediately following shall be observed as the holiday.
(d) When a non-salaried full-time member of the Police Department is authorized to work, and does work all or part of a scheduled work day observed as a holiday under Section 147.03(a), such employee shall, in addition to his or her regular pay, be paid additional compensation for such time at one times his or her regular rate of pay.
(e) When a part-time member of the Police Department is authorized to work, and does work all or part of a scheduled work day on Christmas, New Year’s Day, or Thanksgiving, such employee shall, in addition to his or her regular pay, be paid additional compensation for such time at one times his or her regular rate of pay.
(f) Whenever possible, the Chief of Police shall set schedules so that each member of the Police Department celebrates holidays equally.
(g) Holiday pay for any non-Police Officer employee is forfeited unless the employee:
(1) Reports to work the scheduled day preceding each holiday and the scheduled day following each holiday; or
(2) Is on scheduled vacation. (Ord. 12-129. Passed 11-1-12.)
