(Ord. 2528. Passed 4-5-77.)
(b) Kind of Pipe. All pipe and fittings used for water service from the curb cock on installations where the meter is on the inside, and from meter bar where the meter is on the outside, to the main stop, shall conform to the Ohio Plumbing Code, referred to in Section 1424.01(e).
Water service pipe and fittings extending from the water main and to the curb cock shall conform to the regulation of the administrative authority having jurisdiction over the public water supply system.
Subject to the above, the minimum size for a water service pipe shall be three-quarters of an inch.
A separate service and water meter shall be run for each family unit contained in a duplex or multiple-dwelling up to, but not including, three or more units. However, a water service may be installed in the same ditch as the sewer if a distance of not less than two feet above the sewer can be maintained, and the water service shall be placed on a bench shelf that shall be provided or cut into the side of the trench so that no part of the water service will be laid on filled soil.
When slab or crawl space-type of construction is encountered, the water service shall be so installed that a depth of not less than forty-two inches and a distance of six inches or more inside from any exterior foundation wall shall be observed.
At no time shall the vertical water service pipe or the fixture supply piping be allowed to come into direct contact with cement or concrete.

The part of the water service that extends vertically from the excavated trench through the first floor (crawl space) shall be protected from freezing by enclosing the same with six-inch diameter conductor pipe. This conductor pipe shall be securely fastened to the floor joist in such a manner that the water service will be located in the center of the six-inch conductor pipe tube, which shall extend to the underside of the flooring. The space between the conductor pipe tube and the water service shall be filled with an approved insulation. The six-inch conductor pipe tube shall be installed by the plumber.
