258.04 AUXILIARY POLICE UNIT.
   (a)   Establishment. There is hereby established within the Police Division an Auxiliary Police Unit. Members of such Unit shall be appointed by the City Manager and shall serve as long as the City Manager shall direct or until any such member submits his or her resignation. (Ord. 1632.    (b)   Qualifications of Members. A member of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall be a resident of Miamisburg or the immediately adjacent area thereto, shall not be less than twenty-one years of age at the time of appointment, and shall be of good physical condition, background and character.
   (c)   Compensation. Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall be paid the sum of one dollar ($1.00) per year for services rendered as such auxiliary police officers, together with such other benefits as Council shall establish from time to time by ordinance.
   (d)   Insurance. Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall be included under the Workers' Compensation Insurance plan of the City.
   (e)   Civil Service.    Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall not be in the classified service of the City.
   (f)   Membership. The Auxiliary Police Unit shall be composed of such members as may be appointed thereto as herein provided, the membership thereof to be limited to a number not to exceed twenty-five.
   (g)   Application of Police Regulations. Members of the Auxiliary Police Unit shall be subject to all of the rules and regulations governing police officers of the City. A violation of any of such rules and regulations or of any rules and regulations prescribed by Council, the City Manager or the Chief of Police shall subject such member to dismissal or removal from the Auxiliary Police Unit.

   (h)   Parking Enforcement. Auxiliary police officers shall have the authority as directed by the City Manager and the Chief of Police to perform the duties listed in Section 258.05(c). (Ord. 4217. Passed 7-18-89.)
