258.05 PARKING OFFICER.
   (a)   Establishment of Position; Control; Uniform. The position of Parking Officer is hereby established in the Police Division. Parking Officers shall be under the control of the Chief of Police and shall wear a uniform prescribed by the Chief in the performance of their duties, but shall not be sworn officers.
   (b)   Appointment. The appointment of a person to the position of Parking Officer shall be made by the City Manager, in accordance with recommendations made by the Chief of Police.
   (c)   Duties. Parking Officers are authorized to perform the following duties:
            (1)   Issue tickets for the violation of parking and nonmoving traffic ordinances or regulations of the City;
            (2)   Order the towing and impounding of vehicles in violation of parking and nonmoving traffic ordinances and regulations. Any vehicles so impounded shall be released in the manner provided in these Codified Ordinances or in the Ohio Revised Code;
            (3)   Assume traffic posts at intersections or other locations as necessary to direct traffic;
            (4)   Report hazards and potential crime conditions which need attention to the proper authorities;
            (5)   Assist the general public in proper parking and traffic procedures and dispense information in assigned areas; and
            (6)   Perform such other duties as may be determined by the Chief of Police, consistent with and incidental to the foregoing duties.
