§ 151.084 WIND SPEED; WIND-BORNE DEBRIS REGION.
   (A)   Required ultimate design wind speed. The ultimate design wind speed, Vult, for the determination of the wind loads for Risk Category II Buildings, as defined by the Florida Building Code, shall be 140 miles per hour for all of the City of Mexico Beach.
   (B)   Wind-Borne Debris Region.
      (1)   Establishment. There is hereby established a “Wind-Borne Debris Region” as all land within the corporate limits of the city.
      (2)   Purpose. In order to assure proper methods for new construction and/or repair of existing buildings and structures, the Wind-Borne Debris Region has been established to provide an easily recognized region, wherein buildings constructed within said region must be either designed for internal pressures that may result inside a building when a window or door is broken or a hole is created in the walls or roof by large debris, or be designed with protected openings, pursuant to Chapter 16 Florida Building Code, 2001, F.S. Ch. 553.
