SECTION 9.117.  VIOLATIONS; PROCEDURE.
   A.   Unlawful Acts: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, alter, extend, repair, remove, demolish, use or occupy any building or structure or equipment regulated by this Building Code, or cause same to be done, contrary to or in conflict with or in violation of any of the provisions of this Building Code.
   B.   Notice of Violation: In the event work being performed or about to be performed does not comply with the provisions of this Building Code, the Zoning Ordinance or other applicable ordinance, the Building Administrator, or his designee, shall immediately notify the contractor (if present) orally and/or mark the permit card (if any) and/or issue a Stop Work Order and thereafter confirm such notice of violation in writing to the holder of the permit, which confirmation may consist of forwarding a copy of the Stop Work Order to the permittee. Such verbal and written notification shall cite violation of the applicable section of this Building Code, the Zoning Ordinance and/or other ordinances which are the reasons for disapproval. That portion of work which has been disapproved shall be corrected by the contractor. Upon completion of the corrected work, the contractor shall reschedule an inspection in accordance with Section 9.114 of this Building Code.
   C.   Prosecution of Violation: If the notice of violation is not complied with promptly, the Building Administrator shall institute the appropriate proceeding at law or in equity to restrain, correct or abate such violation or to require the removal or termination of the unlawful use of the building or structure in violation of the provisions of this Building Code or of the order or direction made pursuant thereto.
