§ 32.002 CORPORATE COUNSEL.
   (A)   There is created the office of Corporate Counsel. He or she shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council, and he or she shall be the head of the Law Department of the city. The person appointed to serve as Corporation Counsel shall possess the following minimum qualifications:
      (1)   Shall be a licensed attorney at law and shall at all times be licensed to practice in the courts of the State of Illinois and in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois; and
      (2)   Shall possess experience in and working knowledge of municipal law and finance.
   (B)   The position of Corporation Counsel shall be a part-time position. The Corporate Counsel shall be expected to work, on average, 20 hours per week. The person appointed as Corporate Counsel may engage in the private practice of law.
