(A) Bond before entering office. The City Clerk shall, before entering upon the duties of his or her office, execute a bond to the city in the penal sum of $10,000 with such sureties as the City Council shall approve, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of his or her office.
(B) Bond as collector of water and light receipts. The City Clerk shall be ex officio collector of water and light receipts and shall execute a bond to the city in the penal sum of $50,000 with such securities as the City Council shall approve, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of collector of water and light receipts.

(C) Authority. The City Clerk has the authority to hire and fire with approval of the City Council.
