§ 31.011 ELECTIONS.
   (A)   Election date. An election for city officers shall be held in accordance with the general election laws of the state regulating the manner for the conduct of elections for city officers.

   (B)   Notice. The holding of elections, notice of the same, and appointment of judges and clerks thereof shall be in accordance with the general election laws of the state regulating such matters.

   (C)   Manner of conducting elections. The manner of conducting and voting at elections to be held in the city and contesting the same, the keeping of poll lists and canvassing the votes, and all other issues pertaining to elections shall be in accordance with the general election laws of the state regulating such matters.

   (D)   Taking office. All newly-elected officials shall take office the first meeting after the canvassing of votes and certification of election results.
