The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners are instructed and directed to make the necessary amendments to the rules and regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners in order to require that any person appointed to the Fire Department of the city shall not become a regular member of the Fire Department of the city unless and until he or she shall complete, pursuant to the Illinois Fire Protection Training Act (i.e., ILCS Ch. 50, Act 740, §§ 1 et seq.), the approved training course within 12 months of the date of his or her initial employment.
