1454.01   NEW CONSTRUCTION.
   (a)   The installation of a minimum of one approved smoke detector per dwelling unit is hereby required for all new single and multiple occupancy residential dwellings constructed subsequent to the effective date of this chapter (Ordinance 80-0-18, passed July 8, 1980).
   (b)   In a building having a basement or cellar, an additional approved smoke detector shall be installed in such basement or cellar. All smoke detector installations shall be in approved locations. All smoke detectors required by this chapter shall comply with the standards set forth in Section 1454.04.
   (c)   As an alternative to a smoke detector, an approved fire detection system may be installed. Each such fire detection system must be individually approved and a permit issued therefor by the Fire Department.
