The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003, an amendment to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, required rules regarding identity theft protection to be promulgated. Those rules became effective November 1, 2008, requiring municipal utilities and other departments to implement an identity theft program and policy. Therefore, the City has adopted an Identity Theft Policy, as set forth in Resolution No. 2009-R-11, and adopted by reference as if fully set forth in this chapter.
