SECTION 3.01   ELECTION AND TERM.
   The Mayor shall be elected for a term of four (4) years. In the event that three (3) or more persons file petitions for the position of Mayor, a primary election shall be held in the month of September and the two (2) candidates receiving the highest number of votes in said primary election shall then run for Mayor in the following November election. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes shall be considered elected. The Mayor shall be elected at the regular Municipal election held in the year 1967, and every four (4) years thereafter for a term of four (4) years commencing on the first day of January next following such election, and shall serve until his or her successor is elected and qualified.
