The Director of Public Works shall have the authority to impose special or seasonal weight limits to prevent injury to the roadway of any highway, bridge or culvert within the jurisdiction of the City or for the safety of users of such highway, bridge or culvert and shall be responsible for erecting signs giving notice thereof in accordance with Wisconsin Statutes § 349.16. No person shall drive a motor vehicle having a gross weight that exceeds posted special or seasonal weight limits, excepting motor buses, on any street or alley so posted.
