§ 51.02 CONNECTION CHARGES.
   (A)   Waterworks connection charges. The customer shall pay a connection charge of $600 for a standard three-fourths of an inch by five-eighths of an inch meter. (This is not refundable to the customer. This is the actual cost of installing the meter.)
      (1)   Larger meters, one to two inches or above, will cost according to the size and the amount of work to be performed by the municipality.
      (2)   The water company will only run 50 feet of three-fourths of an inch line to the customer’s property. If the line runs over 50 feet, then the customer must bear the excess cost.
   (B)   Sewer connection charges. Customers connecting to the municipal sewer system shall pay a connection fee of $400 for each residence. The customer connecting to the sewer must bear all costs of installing the line or lines from his or her building, or buildings, to the sewer main including tapping the main.

§ 51.03 RATES EXCLUSIVE OF SALES TAX.
   The foregoing rates are rates to be charged by the city, and any applicable state sales tax shall be added to each bill as a separate charge.

§ 51.04 COSTS OF INSTALLATION AND INDEMNIFICATION.
   All costs and expenses incident to the installation and connection of water and sewer lines from the buildings on the respective premises to the points where the respective lines are brought to serve such premises shall be borne by the respective property owners, and the property owners shall further indemnify the city from any loss or damage that may directly or indirectly be occasioned by the installation of such lines. All water and sewer connections shall be made under the supervision of the Water Superintendent and Sewer Superintendent.

§ 51.05 EFFECTIVE DATES FOR WATER AND SEWER CHARGES.
   (A)   The water rates and charges set forth in § 50.01 shall be effective as to all water customers beginning on the respective dates upon which each new water customer connects his or her premises to the water line made available to his or her premises.
   (B)   (1)   The sewer system shall be considered “available” to any premises which abut upon any street, road, alley, public or private way, or easement in which there exists a sewer pipe, main, lateral, or other structure or installation of the municipal sanitary sewer system to be constructed by the city, capable of receiving flowable wastes, in which the city has brought a sewer line to a point located at the edge of the property line or easement of the owner of such premises.
      (2)   The sewer rates and charges prescribed in § 50.01 shall be effective as to all premises where new sewer lines are made available as above defined, upon the date of actual connection thereto, or on a date 60 days after the Sewer Superintendent furnishes the property owner notice, either by personal written notice or by notice published in a local newspaper of general circulation throughout the city to the effect that sewer service is available to the premises, whichever date is earlier.
   (C)   The schedule of rates prescribed in § 50.01 for monthly water and sewer service shall be uniformly charged to all customers of the waterworks and sewer systems located within the city limits. Each customer located outside the city limits shall be charged monthly water and sewer rates equal to 125% of the monthly rates herein prescribed.
