§ 50.01 UTILITY MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR.
   (A)   Primary responsibility. Under general direction from the Mayor and other relevant department heads, the Utility Maintenance Director maintains the city’s water distribution and sewer collection infrastructure. Under general supervision, he or she performs unskilled and semi-skilled duties necessary for the provision of city services, and performs related work as required.
   (B)   Essential job-related responsibilities.
      (1)   Maintains the city’s water distribution system and wastewater collection system in compliance with all applicable statutes and regulations;
      (2)   Installs/repairs water distribution and wastewater collection lines;
      (3)   Conducts or supervises required testing and prepares/submits accurate reports to appropriate regulatory agencies;
      (4)   Makes needed repairs and performs preventive maintenance;
      (5)   Installs and/or repairs water meters;
      (6)   Ensures necessary supplies are available;
      (7)   Maintains accurate and complete records;
      (8)   Performs routine clerical tasks associated with job responsibilities; and
      (9)   Performs other related duties as required.
   (C)   Qualifications. The Utility Maintenance Director must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent; possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license; be able to read, write, and speak English; and be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
   (D)   Typical working conditions. Work is typically performed outdoors. The Utility Maintenance Director is required to perform strenuous duties under any weather conditions, and must possess excellent manual dexterity and be able to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time; additionally, occasional office work may be necessary.
