559.12 ADVERTISING ON VEHICLES.
   (a)   No person shall display or cause to be displayed any written or printed sign for the purpose of advertising, whether mercantile, political or otherwise, projecting upon the top of any vehicle.

   (b)   Division (a) of this section shall not apply to vehicles being used for paid public transportation or for hire.

   (c)   Whoever violates or fails to comply with any of the provisions of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor, and shall be subject to the penalty provided in Section 597.02.
