1373.02 HYDRANT SYSTEM.
   (a)   When Required. Whenever the ground area of the premises of an industrial plant, multifamily dwelling development, lumber yard, storage area, shopping center or other occupancy involving the use of a large ground area exceeds 15,000 square feet, and whenever the area of a lumber yard shed or sheds on any premises exceeds 5,000 square feet of aggregated area, and such premises are so located or arranged that efficient fire fighting cannot be carried on from existing public hydrants, the Fire Prevention Bureau may require the installation of yard hydrants by the owner of the premises in conformity, with this section.
   (b)   Number Required. Where topography permits, hydrants shall be spaced not more than 300 feet apart and so located adjacent to roadways and drive areas that all sides of all buildings in the complex can be reached by comparatively short hose lays from more than one hydrant. A comparatively short hose lay shall not exceed 300 feet. All roadways and drive areas shall have a minimum fifty-foot turn radius to accommodate the accessibility of fire apparatus to the fire hydrants. Hydrants in lumber yards shall be spaced not more than 250 feet apart and shall be in such number and so located that all streams therefrom shall reach all areas on the premises, including those within lumber sheds.
