All abandoned underground gasoline or oil storage tanks shall be removed. The removal of underground tanks shall be performed in accordance with accepted safe practice and under the supervision of the Bureau of Fire Prevention of the City. Under no circumstances shall any structure be erected above any abandoned underground tank. When tanks are removed, the Director of Buildings or any inspector officially designated by the Mayor shall supervise the necessary backfilling and grading of the area.
