The Director of Public Service, shall furnish such line and gradestakes as may be necessary for the proper control of the work; however, this shall not relieve the owner or contractor of any responsibility for making careful and accurate measurements in constructing the work to the lines furnished by the Director. The owner or contractor shall preserve the points furnished by the Director, and such stakes for line or grades which are disturbed or destoyed through the carelessness of the owner or contractor shall be replaced by the Director only upon payment of the actual cost per stake, payable at the office of the Director.
