549.08 DISCHARGING WEAPONS; HUNTING.
   (a)   No person shall engage in hunting or discharge any cannon, gun, pistol or other firearm of any kind whatsoever within the City, nor shall any person discharge any slingshot, arrow, speargun, harpoon or other similar device designed for use as a weapon and capable of causing harm to persons or property. This section shall not prohibit the firing of a military salute or the firing of weapons by the armed forces acting under military authority, and shall not apply to law enforcement officials in the proper enforcement of the law, nor to police training at a supervised range, nor to any person in the proper exercise of the right of self-defense.
   (b)   Any weapons found being used in violation of this section shall be confiscated by the Division of Police at the time of the violation and shall be held by the Division of Police pending the conclusion of any court proceedings relating to the violation. At the conclusion of all court proceedings relating to the violation, the Division of Police shall return the weapon to its owner upon application by the owner to the Chief of Police.
   (c)   Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.
