The U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey Standard Disk stamped "Mattoon 1934," set in the top of a concrete post at a ground-level point, located 12 feet west of the west wall of the City Building situated on Lots 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 in Block 112, in the original town, now city, and 10 feet south of the west steps of the aforesaid City Building, be and the same is hereby fixed and established as the City Bench Mark. The elevation of the City Bench Mark is hereby fixed and established at 724.97 feet above the sea level, based upon the same datum plain as that used in the general ordinances of the city, 1929.
