1331.99 PENALTY.
An Official Notice shall be posted on the structure, which shall not be removed until the vacant building is registered and all fees and penalties are paid in full. In addition, a notification letter will be sent informing the owner of registration requirements. Notice under this subsection is sufficient if it is deposited in the mail, first class, to the last known owner or entity in control of the property on the records of the Stark County Auditor at the time of notification. Failure to make registration within thirty (30) business days from the date of notice shall result in the additional assessment penalty of $500.00 for residential and $1,000.00 for non-residential structures per building in addition to the annual registration fee. The City Auditor can then certify to the County Auditor the registration fee pursuant to 1331.03(g) and penalty 1331.99 as referenced above. Such amounts can be entered upon the tax duplicate and can be lien upon such lands from the date of entry, and can be collected as other taxes and returned to the General Fund as provided by Ohio R.C. 731.54. In addition to the above, such amounts (penalties/fees) are also considered a debt collectible and the unpaid debt can also be collected in accordance with Ordinance No. 107-2010.
