Sec. 6-78. Action by city council.
(a)   If, pursuant to section 6-77, the hearing officer issues an order to demolish or otherwise make safe or properly maintain a dangerous building, and the owner(s) neglects or refuses to comply with such order, or if the owner(s) failed to appear at the hearing, the hearing officer shall file a report of the findings and a copy of the order with the city council and request that the city take the necessary action to demolish or otherwise make safe or properly maintain the dangerous building.
(b)   The city council shall fix a date not less than 30 days after the hearing provided in section 6-77 for hearing to review the findings and order of the hearings officer and shall give notice to the owner(s), in the manner prescribed in section 6-75(a), of the time and place of the hearing. At the hearing, the owner(s) shall be given the opportunity to show cause why the hearing officer's order should not be enforced and the city council shall either approve, disapprove, or modify the order of the officer.
