Officers of the reserve force shall serve without compensation; however, the city council shall reserve the right to appropriate funds to reimburse actual expenses incurred, or compensate reserve officers for particular duties as the chief of police may recommend. Officers shall not be eligible to participate in any pension or disability plan or any life, hospitalization or other medical insurance plans of the department by virtue of their affiliation with the police reserve force.
