(a) Before a permit is issued for any sign, the applicant shall file with the zoning official satisfactory evidence that a policy of general liability insurance with a combined single limit of not less than $1,000,000.00 per occurrence has been obtained to cover the permitted work.
(b) Signs less than six feet in height above grade and less than 16 square feet in sign area are exempt from the provisions for liability insurance for the purpose of obtaining a sign permit.
