Sec. 26-203. Authorization for cleanup; liability for costs.
The fire department or a contractor working at the direction of the fire department is authorized to clean up or abate the effects of any hazardous materials, substances or waste deposits upon the property or facilities within the city. Any person or company who causes or contributes to such deposit shall be jointly and severally liable for payment of all costs incurred by the city and the fire department and/or the contractor working on behalf of the fire department as a result of such cleanup or abatement activity. The remedy provided in this section shall be in addition to any other remedy provided by law, including remedial activities as may be mandated by state or federal law.
