§ 50.40 TESTING OF METERS.
Each customer shall have the right to request a testing of the water meter that is in place and being used for the calculation of water usage at the customer’s property. For meters that are one inch or less, the customer shall place a deposit of $100 with the Village Water Clerk or Village Treasurer. Customers who request testing of a water meter that is greater than one inch will be required to place a deposit with the Village Water Clerk or Village Treasurer that is equal to the estimate of the fees incurred for the testing of that particular meter. The estimate will include, but is not limited to, packaging, shipping, freight and testing fees. The deposit for testing of any meter must be placed prior to meter removal and testing. If the meter, after testing, proves to be within and complies with the current standards as stipulated in the current edition of the “American Water Works Association Water Meters - Selection, Installation, Testing, and Maintenance Manual of Water Supply Practices M6” (currently the Fifth Edition), the deposit shall be forfeited and the customer shall be responsible for any costs over the amount placed on deposit for the meter testing. If the water meter, after testing, proves to be outside of and not in compliance with the “American Water Works Association Water Meters - Selection, Installation, Testing, and Maintenance Manual of Water Supply Practices M6” (currently the Fifth Edition), the customer shall be refunded the deposit and an adjustment shall be made to the customer’s water usage billing account.
