955.07 SOURCE SEPARATION AND COLLECTION OF DESIGNATED RECYCLABLES .
   All recyclables placed at the curbside shall be prepared for collection in accordance with the following:
   (a)   All newspaper shall be tied with cord in bundles not exceeding thirty-five (35) pounds in weight or exceeding one (1) foot in thickness, and kept dry and be placed at the curbside.
   (b)   Cardboard shall be flattened and tied with cord in bundles not exceeding thirty-five (35) pounds in weight and dimensions not exceeding three (3) feet by one (1) foot by three (3) feet and be placed at the curbside.
   (c)   Glass containers shall have caps and lids removed and shall be sorted by color (clear, green and brown) and placed in rigid open top containers unless otherwise directed by the City Council.
   (d)   Glass, cans, foil, and plastics shall be rinsed free of contaminants.
   (e)   Aluminum cans, cans, bi-metal, aluminum foil, and aluminum pans shall be put in a co-mingled rigid container and placed at the curbside.
   (f)   Plastic shall be put in a separate rigid container and placed at the curbside.
   (g)   Only rigid containers designated by the Public Works Superintendent shall be utilized for curbside recyclable material collection.
   (h)   No material shall be placed at the curbside earlier than 5:00 p.m. the evening of the day preceding a scheduled collection day. Material must be placed at the curbside by 6:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day. The bundled newspaper, bundled cardboard, and the co-mingled containers of glass and cans, and the container of plastics shall be placed at the curbside for collection adjacent to one another and clearly separated from all other containers of solid waste.
   (i)   No container shall weigh more than thirty-five pounds when placed at the curb for collection. (Ord. 93-17. Passed 8-3-93.)
