The police officers shall devote the necessary time to the discharge of the duties of their office and shall be charged with the preservation of the peace, order, safety and cleanliness of the city and with the duty of protecting the right of persons and property and enforcing the provisions of this code, any other ordinances of the city and orders of the City Council.
