§ 34.02 APPOINTMENT OF POLICE OFFICERS; BOND; RESIDENCY.
   (A)   The Police Chief shall be appointed by the City Council and shall hold their office at the pleasure of the Council and before entering upon the duties of their office, shall take the oath prescribed for other city offices and enter into a bond in the penal sum of $1,000, with good and sufficient sureties to be approved by the Council, conditioned for the faithful discharge of the duties of their office, and the payment of all moneys that may be received by them according to law, this code and any ordinances of the city. The Captain shall be appointed by the Police Chief with the approval of the Council. All other officers shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety except for such officers who need to be appointed by a Police Commission that is in effect. All officers on appointment shall execute a bond similar to that required of the Police Chief.
   (B)   All members of the Police Force must reside within a 50 mile distance of the city limits of the city.
