§ 72.10 PARKING PROHIBITED GENERALLY.
   (A)   No person shall stop, stand, or park any vehicle upon a street, other than an alley, in such a manner or under such conditions as to leave available less than ten feet of the width of the roadway for free movement of vehicular traffic, except that a driver may stop temporarily during the actual loading or unloading of passengers or, when necessary, in obedience to traffic regulations, traffic signs or a police officer.
   (B)   No person shall park a vehicle within an alley in such a manner or under such conditions as to leave available less than 15 feet of the width of the roadway for the free movement of vehicular traffic.
   (C)   No person operating a commercial vehicle shall stop, stand or park upon any street, street right-of-way, alley, alley right-of-way, city parking lot, or other city property for a longer time than 90 minutes at any time of any day or night, unless loading or unloading from or to an actual premises on a normal continuous basis. Notwithstanding the above, no person shall stop, stand, or park any vehicle, commercial or otherwise, in areas where prohibited parking is indicated by signage or is prohibited under another section of this code. For the purpose of this section, a COMMERCIAL VEHICLE is defined to be any truck, tractor, trailer or similar unit that is used for the transportation of merchandise, or from which merchandise is sold.
   (D)   No trailer, boat, or snowmobile shall be allowed to stand or park upon any street, street right-of-way, alley, alley right-of-way, city parking lot, or other city property, with the exception of emergency circumstances, for a longer time than 90 minutes, unless loading or unloading from or to an actual premise on a normal continuous basis.
      (1)   Notwithstanding the above, no person shall stop, stand, or park any trailer, boat, or snowmobile in areas where prohibited parking is indicated by signage or is prohibited under another section of this code.
      (2)   However, a boat trailer, when attached to the vehicle that would normally pull the same, may park in specially designated areas in a park or city parking lot for a period not to exceed 24 hours.
      (3)   All such specifically designated areas shall be prominently posted with this time restriction.
   (E)   No person shall stop, stand, or park any vehicle, commercial or otherwise, upon any street, alley, or city parking lot for more than 24 hours.
   (F)   The city, with respect to highways under its jurisdiction or for the maintenance of which it is responsible, may place signs prohibiting or restricting the stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles on any highway where, in its opinion, stopping, standing, or parking is dangerous to those using the highway, or where stopping, standing, or parking vehicles would unduly interfere with the free movement of traffic thereon.
      (1)   Any regulations adopted by the city regarding the stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles upon any specific street, streets, or highways become effective at the time of the erection of appropriate signs indicating the regulations.
      (2)   Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions, no person shall stop, stand, or park any vehicle, boat, snowmobile, commercial vehicle or otherwise in areas where prohibited parking is indicated by signage, or is prohibited under another section of this code.
   (G)   This section, § 72.11 and ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, § 11-1304 shall not apply to the driver of any vehicle that is disabled in such manner and to such extent that it is impossible to avoid stopping and temporarily leaving the vehicle in that position.
