§ 98.110 OFFICIAL NUMBERING SYSTEM.
   (A)   U.S. Highway #6 (159th Street) shall be the north-south baseline for the city for the numbering of buildings. Numbers north of this base shall decrease numerically and those south shall increase numerically. All numbers shall carry the suffix “South”. Kedzie Avenue shall be the east-west baseline for the city for the numbering of buildings. Numbers east of this base shall decrease numerically and those west shall increase numerically. All numbers shall carry the suffix “West”. Odd numbers shall be assigned on the west and north sides of streets; even numbers shall be assigned on the west and north sides of streets. Each assigned number shall apply for approximately 20 feet of frontage.
   (B)   Numbers for new and proposed buildings or lots may be obtained at the office of the Director of Building and Housing. At the time a building permit is issued, the correct street number will be issued and recorded on the permit. The Director of Building and Housing shall at all times keep charts and plats furnished him or her up to date in all respects.
   (C)   The owners or occupants of each dwelling or building in the city shall have placed thereon the assigned number of the dwelling or building. The figures shall be at least two and one-half inches in height and be clearly visible from the street.
   (D)   Any person failing to so number any dwelling, building or other structure occupied by him or her or if after receiving notice to do so from the City Clerk shall continue in his or her failure to so number any dwelling, building or structure, shall be fined for each day during or on which a failure to so number continues.
