(A) Every business operating within the city or falling under the fire protection of the city’s Fire Department shall be required to obtain an annual certificate of fire inspection for its business.
(B) The certificate of fire inspection for the business shall be effective from May 1 through April 30 of each calendar year and shall be obtained or renewed under the following provisions.
(1) A business registration packet shall be obtained and completed by the business during the month of March from the Fire Department.
(2) An inspection of the business shall be made by the Fire Department during the month of April.
(3) Upon completion of the inspection, the registration packet and payment of a $75 fee, payable to the city, a certificate of safety and fire inspection shall be issued.
(C) Any business entering the city during the fiscal year shall be required to obtain the certificate of fire inspection for business prior to opening. The fee shall not be prorated.
(D) The certificate of fire inspection for business shall be posted in a conspicuous place at the business.
(E) The certificate of fire inspection for business does not prevent the business from having periodic fire inspections by the city’s Fire Department, nor does it relieve the business from complying with city fire codes during the course of the year for which the certificate is issued.
(F) If a certificate of fire inspection has not been applied for by April 30 of each year, the business shall be charged a late fee of $25 which will be over and above the fee for the fire inspection itself.
