6-1-1: APPOINTMENT OF POLICE CHIEF AND FIRE CHIEF:
The chief of police and the chief of the fire department shall be appointed by the mayor, with the advice and consent of the city council, and said appointments need not be made from the members of the police and fire departments, respectively. (1977 Code § 2.08.040; amd. 2013 Code)
