(A) Except as provided in division (B) below, when it considers it necessary, the legislative authority may provide legal counsel for the municipality, or for any department or official of the municipality, for a period not to exceed two years and shall provide compensation for the legal counsel.

(B) The legal counsel shall be known as the Village Attorney, shall be an attorney at law and shall be admitted to practice in the courts of the state.
(C) It shall be the duty of the Attorney to provide all legal services and advice, including preparation and presentation of ordinances and resolutions as requested by Council and officers of the village while acting in their official capacity, to serve as prosecutor for Mayor’s Court, and provide such legal services and advice as required by the state statutes regarding the position.
(D) Consideration for additional compensation shall be given by the Village Finance Committee with approval of Village Council for the following services on an individual basis: bond issuance or tax assessment proceedings; and services rendered in court action regarding village liability.
