§ 54.25 WARNING LIGHTS, BARRIERS.
   Every person who shall dig or cause to be dug in or adjoining any street any excavation whatsoever, and every person who shall occupy or cause to be occupied any portion of any street with building material or any obstruction, shall provide sufficient red lights and barricades to adequately protect pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Such person shall cause not less than two red lights to be securely and conspicuously posted in or near such excavation, building material, or obstruction, one or more at each end of the space so excavated or occupied. If the space occupied by such obstruction or excavation shall exceed ten feet in extent, then such person shall cause additional lights to be posted for every additional ten feet in extent or portion thereof so excavated or occupied, and shall keep such lights burning the entire night. The Mayor or an authorized village police officer may, at his or her discretion, require additional lights, in the case of any excavated area. In the case of excavations, whether in or adjoining a street, and in the case of other open or exposed places within the village suitable warning barriers shall be set up to protect the public against accidents.
