(a) When access to or within a structure or area is unduly difficult because of secured openings or where immediate access is necessary for life-saving or fire-fighting purposes, the Fire Prevention Officer or Fire Chief may require a key box be installed in an accessible location. The key box shall be a type approved by the Fire Prevention Officer or Fire Chief and shall contain keys to gain necessary access as required.
(b) The key box shall be installed in all newly constructed buildings immediately after the adoption of this section, and shall be installed on all existing locations upon changes of ownership or occupant.

(c) A fire fighter's recall key for elevators shall be made available to the Fire Division at a location specified by the Fire Prevention Officer or Fire Chief. A key box may be required.
