Every applicant for registration shall, upon approval of the application therefor, furnish and file with the Building Commissioner a bond in the penal sum of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000), to be approved as to form by the Director of Law, guaranteeing full and faithful compliance by the applicant with this Building and Housing Code and with pertinent rules and regulations promulgated by authority of this Building and Housing Code or of the Charter, and binding the surety thereon to correct or abate any violation of this Building and Housing Code or of pertinent rules or regulations promulgated by authority of this Building and Housing Code or of the Charter, whenever the applicant for registration named as the principal on such bond refuses, neglects or fails to correct or abate such violation within a reasonable time limit set by the Building Commissioner.
Further, any approved applicant for registration shall indemnify and save harmless the property owner and the lessee, tenant or other person contracting for work and materials, guaranteeing that all workmanship and materials are in conformity with this Ohio Building Code(s), the Maple Heights Building and Housing Code(s), regulations ptomulgated in this chapter, or the City Charter, to protect the Municipality and the said property owner, lessee, tenant or other person contracting for the aforesaid services, from all loss and damage that may be occasioned in any way by accident, negligence or want of care, skill or attention by the principal or the agents of the principal in performing such work.
